Danao connects with Mario Ruiz
Mario Ruiz is the designer of the Tribeca collection. In his approach to work, the methodology stems from a profound commitment to usefulness. Aiming to ensure that the object functions optimally, this perspective serves as his constant starting point. Recognizing that there is no universal solution to achieve this objective, he believes that the exploration of intricate details often paves the way for the development of a distinct language.
Meet him and his work in this quick interview.
1/6. Define your design in 3 words
MR: Honest, gentle, elegant.
2/6. Inspiration for the collection
MR: It is an exercise inspired by the concept of lightness, of slender and aerial shapes, comfortable and light pieces, like the architectural language of Frei Otto or Kengo Kuma, which defy gravity with increasingly lighter materials and structures.
This collection use transparency, the air that flows through the rope and mesh, the beauty of the weave, with a texture and shapes that are pleasing to the body.

5/6. Favorite architecture project where you would love to have your pieces
MR: It would be great to see some of my pieces in Oscar Niemeyer’s Casa Das Canoas, Ricardo Bofill’s house in Mont-Ras, or in Casa Ter by Mesura studio..
6/6. Outdoor memory? Any special outdoor experience you remember
MR: My fondest memories of being outdoors go back to my childhood, to summer days at a family country house with an endless garden, full of fruit trees, flowers, greenery, of paths I biked through, exploring, observing, building objects with the natural materials I would find.
